Leader Rodgers: $5.20 Doesn't Mean Much in Biden's Inflation Crisis

Today, Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on President Joe Biden touting minimal Medicare Part B premium "decreases" while seniors are getting crushed by his inflation crisis.

"President Joe Biden is completely out-of-touch and trying to distort reality for American seniors who can't afford to make ends meet and are being forced out of retirement because of his inflation and rising cost-of-living crisis. The average standard monthly Medicare Part B premiums have not decreased during his administration. These small $5.20 a month premium "savings' are swallowed up by this year's historic 14.5 percent increase for seniors. Next year, seniors will still pay $16.40 more per month or nearly $200 more a year than they were in 2021. This is all on top of seniors paying more for everything else on a fixed income. Playing politics and spinning seniors' Medicare costs is especially outrageous considering the program's looming insolvency.

"If President Biden is serious about sending real relief to make life affordable again, he will end his reckless spending agenda and war on American energy that is forcing seniors to pay hundreds of dollars more a year for their energy bills, food, gas, and everyday expenses."
