Press Release

Date: July 27, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted to advance H.R. 8487, the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act, in the House Ways and Means Committee. This bipartisan legislation would improve care for seniors by standardizing processes and providing transparency and oversight to Medicare Advantage's prior authorization process.

"Today is about strengthening the Medicare program and preventing seniors from missing the care they need and deserve," said Larson. "For years, I have heard from constituents, both care providers and patients, who have told me the Medicare Advantage prior authorization process is resulting in delayed care, sometimes leading to serious medical issues. That is unacceptable. This bill will mean real improvements for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. I am proud to vote to advance this bill today."
