Sen. Kelly Statement on Urgency of Passing Legislation to Tackle Inflation, Strengthen Supply Chains

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly issued the following statement highlighting the urgency of passing his bipartisan legislation to tackle supply chain issues and the need to bring down energy prices as the latest Consumer Price Index report shows rising costs for families across the country.

"Arizonans are working harder, but prices for everything from gas to groceries keep rising. It's why I've introduced legislation to suspend the gas tax, pushed the Biden administration to boost domestic energy production, and continued working with Republicans and Democrats to pass our legislation that would bring overseas microchip manufacturing back to America. The less reliant we are on other countries for the goods we need, the stronger and more resilient our economy will be. We must use every tool we have to lower costs for families in Arizona and across the country," said Senator Kelly, original cosponsor of the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act.

Since taking office, Kelly has championed legislation to support Arizona's economic growth and lower rising costs for families including introducing legislation to suspend the federal gas tax through the end of the year, urging the Biden administration to increase domestic oil and gas production, introducing bipartisan legislation to address the trucker shortage, and tackling the global semiconductor shortage as a member of the bipartisan conference committee.
