Letter to Hon. Louis DeJoy, Postmaster General - Daines Seeks Answers on Defunct Bozeman Post Office

Letter

Date: July 14, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Infrastructure

Dear Postmaster General DeJoy,
I write to you regarding concerning reports of major postal service interruptions in the Bozeman area due to staff shortages. Hundreds of my constituents have not received any mail in over seven days and cannot reach any full-time USPS employee in the area. Rural and urban Montanans rely upon the USPS for the timely delivery of everything from essential prescriptions, jury summons, bills, and letters that enable rural small businesses to compete on the global stage and keep families connected.
I respectfully ask that you rectify the interruption as soon as possible and take steps to ensure that any future interruptions are avoided. I appreciate the hard work of current carriers and employees to mitigate the effects of staff shortages as well as the ongoing and active efforts to recruit new employees as quickly as possible, but urge you to help find a more permanent solution to prevent further interruptions. I am a strong supporter of the USPS and ensuring it continues to serve Montanans from all corners of the state.
Thank you for your attention and I look forward to your reply.
