Rep. Mann's Statement Regarding Supreme Court Opinion Leak

U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court majority opinion leaked last night. The majority opinion, written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, states that the court is favored to overturn the 1973 Roe V. Wade court ruling.

"Yesterday, an initial draft U.S. Supreme Court majority opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked to the public. If the Court does indeed overturn this ruling, the prayers of millions of people over the last 50 years will finally be answered, and I will join in the celebration of the greatest victory for the unborn in my lifetime.

In 1973, the Supreme Court legislated from the bench with Roe V. Wade and declared abortion a Constitutional right grounded in a woman's right to privacy -- a jurisprudential move that was shaky, biased, and flat wrong.

The United States has some of the same abortion laws as China and North Korea -- countries infamous for human rights abuses. We are one of only eight countries in the world that permit abortion after 20 weeks of gestation, which means that 95% of the countries on earth think that the United States is wrong on abortion. Now, as the Supreme Court grapples with this immense and historic decision, there is an effort to apply political pressure on the court from the person(s) who leaked this draft decision. While the news suggested by the leak is joyous for pro-life individuals like me, the leak itself is completely beyond the pale, inappropriate, and the culprit(s) must face consequences.

May the Lord God protect our Supreme Court Justices, grant them safety in the midst of the efforts to intimidate them, and grant them wisdom as they face the most important decision that any of them have ever made. 62 million children -- Americans -- have died as a result of Roe V. Wade. Now that the equivalent of 1/5th of the U.S. population is dead, is that enough for our country to finally wake up? I pray that it is."

Representative Mann believes life begins at conception; and he will fight to protect the life of all Americans, born and unborn. Representative Mann is a proud father and will continue to stand for the life of every child.
