Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today released the next edition of her "Setting the Record Straight" series, where she debunks commonly spread falsehoods about hot-button issues. In the latest version, Representative Tenney corrected the record on New York's recently passed radical gun control laws.

Recently, the New York state legislature, in the name of public safety, passed a gun control package that significantly curbs New Yorkers' Second Amendment rights. In addition, these legislative measures fail to address the root causes of the violence and crime plaguing our communities, including defunding the police, New York's "bail reform" law, the lack of a New York dangerousness standard, and rogue elected officials who fail to do their jobs.

Governor Hochul convened an extraordinary session of the legislature to address the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in NYSRPA v. Bruen, in which the Court decided rightly that New York's arbitrary and onerous concealed carry permitting process was unconstitutional. In response, Albany Democrats blatantly ignored the Court and the rule of law, passing legislation that continues to arbitrarily infringe on New Yorkers' right to armed self-defense. It also requires prohibitively long and expensive training courses for permits and bans guns in a vast number of public and privately owned spaces.

In her "Setting the Record Straight," Tenney takes apart the myths behind red flag laws, increased online censorship, a so-called "assault weapon" ban, and more.
