Rep. Calvert Votes To Provide Flexibility for WIC Beneficiaries

Statement

Yesterday, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) voted for the Access to Baby Formula Act (H.R. 7791):

"While government intervention in the infant formula market was most likely a contributing factor, and something we should understand better, in our nation's vulnerability to supply shortages, we must ensure economically disadvantaged families are not unfairly impacted by our current shortages," said Rep. Calvert. "I was proud to join a bipartisan majority of my colleagues in the House in supporting flexibility for those who rely on WIC benefits to purchase baby formula. During an already disastrous shortage, I believe we should waive artificial limitations on WIC beneficiaries' choices, so we don't make a bad situation worse for these Americans."
