U.S. Rep. John Rose Joins GOP Leadership to Demand Answers from Biden Administration on Nationwide Baby Formula Shortage

Press Release

Date: May 12, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6), joined House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol to demand answers on how the Biden Administration plans to address the nationwide baby formula shortage. Rep, Rose also highlighted his family's struggles to find sensitive baby formula for their one-year-old son, Sam, and raised concerns about a mother from his district who had to travel hours to find formula for her baby.

Here's part of the Congressman's remarks:

"The shelves are empty, Mr. President, and so are your words. If I have to go to the FDA myself to get answers I will because the bottom line is parents want answers to what this President is doing. And we deserve those answers." Watch the Congressman's full remarks from the press conference here.

This week, Rep. Rose also joined the top Republican on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce in sending a letter, to President Biden and FDA Commissioner Califf, requesting information on the administration's response. The letter poses many questions, including: What action is FDA taking to track the shortage? What are FDA's plans to help address the shortage? What data does the FDA have on the supply of infant formula? The full list of questions can be found here.

Also, this week, in a speech on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Rose called out President Biden for having no answers for new mothers and fathers struggling to find baby formula. You can watch the Congressman's full floor speech here.
