Fischer Statement on Nomination of Gen. Anthony Cotton for STRATCOM Commander

U.S Senator Deb Fischer, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the top Republican on the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement after the Biden Administration announced the nomination of Air Force Gen. Anthony J. Cotton to serve as the next Commander of U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM):

"I congratulate Gen. Cotton on his nomination to lead U.S. Strategic Command. I have enjoyed working with him in his previous roles as first the Deputy and now Commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, and appreciate the experience he has with our nation's nuclear forces. The role of the STRATCOM Commander is increasingly important, as both Russia and China expand their arsenals, and use them to support their global ambitions. As the confirmation process begins, I look forward to visiting with Gen. Cotton to discuss navigating these challenges."
