WHO Keeps Driving This Terrible Policy

Press Release

In January 2021, the Biden Administration moved to reverse one of the great accomplishments of the Trump Administration by unilaterally rejoining an international body that undermines the health and security of the United States of America: the World Health Organization (WHO).

In July of 2020, President Trump announced America's intent to halt participation in the WHO, following the final straw in a questionable relationship between our nation and this international body, when the WHO unacceptably catered to Chinese influence as COVID-19 began to spread. Not only did Joe Biden reverse this justified and bold decision, but in January 2022, the Biden Administration submitted amendments to the WHO International Health Regulations (IHR) that would require the release of information when dangerous pathogens are identified, or a global health threat emerges.

Thankfully, despite these amendments, countries have the sovereign right to legislate and implement health policy in accordance with their own health regulations. My team has done some digging and determined that these proposed amendments do not change this fact. Anything adopted by the WHO would not supersede U.S. law. If it did, I promise you this: I will do anything in my power to reject any measure that will compromise the sovereignty of the United States.

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. The WHO is also working on a universal vaccine passport that could prevent American citizens who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 from traveling internationally. The health decisions made by Oklahomans will not be mandated by unaccountable bureaucrats in a worldwide agency. We won't stand for that. The decision to be vaccinated is your choice.

The WHO needs to be held accountable for their mismanagement of COVID-19, their reliance on China, and their protection of other bad actors. They have shown a total lack of transparency throughout the pandemic and cannot get away with it. And if the Biden Administration is going to continue to make poor choices like they have with reuniting us to the WHO, I'm going to do everything in my power to fight them along the way. To start this, I joined H.R. 419, a bill to prohibit the United States from providing any taxpayer funding to the WHO, the No Taxpayer Funding for the World Health Organization (WHO) Act. Congress has a chance to take this up immediately and right a major wrong. I hope the Biden Administration wakes up to their mistake on this and much more.
