Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow of Michigan released the following statement on the food, agriculture, and rural provisions in the White House's FY2023 budget request.

"President Biden's budget is a major step forward for a more resilient food supply chain and stronger rural communities, especially in the face of a changing climate," said Chairwoman Stabenow. "The budget includes important funds for popular climate-smart ag practices and research to help farmers do more to protect their water and improve their soils. It also includes investments to tackle consolidation and support more local processing so extreme weather and other disruptions take less of a toll on our food systems. I am very pleased to see the President back our important work to help farmers and rural communities address both the causes and the effects of the climate crisis. And important investments in high-speed internet connectivity are also critical. I look forward to advancing these priorities even further in the year to come."
