Issues: Oil and Gas

Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for H.R. 7688, The Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act. This bill would allow the president to issue an Energy Emergency Proclamation, making it unlawful to increase gas and home energy prices in an exploitative way and give the Federal Trade Commission the power to issue penalties for price gouging.

"I have heard from constituents who are concerned they will not be able to afford to put gas in their cars because of rising prices while oil companies reap record profits," said Larson. "This bill takes critical steps to crack down on price gouging by oil companies that have resulted in higher prices for hardworking families at the pump. Democrats are working in Washington to lower costs, and we will continue this work, so Americans see the difference in their daily lives."
