BACON INDUCTED INTO 55th WING HALL OF FAME

Press Release

Date: April 8, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today was inducted into Offutt Air Force Base's 55th Wing Hall of Fame. The 55th Wing has a distinguished history recognizing individuals who make direct, significant, and sustained contributions to the "Fightin' Fifty-Fifth's legacy of Success." Bacon served as the 55th Wing Commander and the 55th Electronic Combat Group Commander. He also served as the 41st Electronic Combat Squadron and in the 41st Expeditionary Combat Squadron in Iraq, both of which are part of the 55th Wing.

Now, as a U.S. Congressman in the House of Representatives and a key member on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), Bacon's work focuses heavily on production of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) each year which has direct impact on funding 55th Wing platforms, programs, and operations.

"Since elected in 2016, I have made it my mission to be an advocate for our service members, military families, and our veterans by fighting for critical legislation that enhances our national security, foreign relations, and modernizes our deterrence capabilities," said Bacon. "I am beyond humbled for this recognition and will continue to invest and ensure the United States remains a global leader in defense and in peace. I thank the 55th Wing Association for this recognition. A lot has been accomplished in the last several years, but the mission is far from over. It is my hope that future Airmen look to those who have come before us and continue to finish the fight in defense of our great country, because she is worth fighting for."

"The work he did during and after the 2019 flood to rebuild the base was something only he could have done, having the experience and relationships of the past combined with being in Congress," said 2014 Hall of Fame inductee Lt.Col. (Ret) Ricky McMahon, who served as Bacon's squadron commander when he was a Major in 1999.

"His leadership and experience in both the EC-130 community in Arizona and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska achieved things no one else has been able to, for the future of the entire 55th Wing," said 2012 Hall of Fame inductee Col. (Ret) Joe Siniscalchii, whom was himself inducted by Bacon when he was Wing Commander.
