Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), member of the House Armed Services Committee, today pressed Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in a committee hearing to commit to restarting the Space Command basing review if the decision made under the last Administration is found to have been made under improper influence.

"Under the prior Administration, they made a decision to move Space Command from Colorado to Alabama and there are some significant allegations of improper process. The GAO and IG are conducting reviews of that process and, if either of those reviews find that the process was not credible, would the Department commit to revisiting that process, starting it over, and doing it in a fair and transparent way?" asked Congressman Jason Crow during today's hearing.

"If there have been things that were improperly or illegally done, then certainly we will revisit that," Secretary Austin responded.

Since the Trump Space Command basing decision was announced, Congressman Crow has joined with the Colorado congressional delegation in pressing to keep Space Command in Colorado.

Most recently, the Members wrote to President Bidenasking him to consider Russia's war on Ukraine when making the final call on Space Command's location.
