U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), a leader on defending the Second Amendment, cosponsored two bills this week to defend against gun control in the firearms registry.

The No Retaining Every Gun In a System That Restricts Your (REGISTRY) Rights Act introduced by Rep. Michael Cloud (TX-27) would ensure the federal government does not build a federal firearms registry.

The Biden administration has proposed a rule that would require Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) to retain all firearm transaction records permanently instead of destroying them after 20 years. There are valid concerns that this could lay the groundwork for a back-door federal firearms registry within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

The No REGISTRY Rights Act would require ATF to destroy all existing firearm transaction records that have been delivered to the ATF by FFL's. This would dismantle their current database and prevent the possible creation of a federal gun registry.

"The right to keep and bear arms is one of our nation's most fundamental freedoms," said Rep. Hudson. "The proposed registry rule by the Biden administration's ATF is yet another threat to our Second Amendment. I am proud to cosponsor the No REGISTRY Rights Act to defend the rights of all law-abiding citizens."

Additionally, the Firearm Industry Non-Discrimination (FIND) Act introduced by Rep. Jack Bergman (MI-01) protects Second Amendment rights by pushing back against 'boardroom gun control.'

Recently, large financial institutions and other corporations have begun to enact policies that have, effectively, restricted access to legal firearms far beyond the scope of current state and federal firearm regulations. The FIND Act would address this by preventing any businesses that discriminate against firearm businesses or associations from contracting or subcontracting with the federal government -- ensuring that federal funding is not used to further these harmful policies.

"The FIND Act will fight back against efforts to implement gun control through discrimination against the firearms industry," said Rep. Hudson.

Yesterday, also as part of his leadership on the Second Amendment, Rep. Hudson also introduced the American Ammo in Defense of Ukraine Act. The legislation will waive export criteria so donations from American ammunition manufacturers can reach Ukraine faster.

"In the face of Russia's invasion, Ukrainian President Zelensky announced he 'needed ammunition, not a ride.' The American Ammo in Defense of Ukraine Act will do just that by cutting red tape to ensure American ammunition can reach Ukraine faster," said Rep. Hudson.
