Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson announced his support for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. She is the first Black woman to be nominated to the Supreme Court of the United States. We are proud to stand with Judge Jackson as she embarks on this vital role in her life. Judge Jackson is well-qualified and a person of honor. She displayed strong leadership and poise throughout the confirmation hearings.

She is one of our nation's brightest legal minds. She will make an exceptional Supreme Court Justice. President Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court because of her experience and qualifications. Judge Jackson graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and has served as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since 2021.

Judge Jackson will be the first judge with experience as a federal public defender. She is also the first judge since Thurgood Marshall with significant experience as a criminal defense attorney for defendants with limited resources. In 2021, Judge Jackson was awarded the Constance Baker Motley Award for giving back to the community, empowering women of color, and advancing the rights of people. These are just a few accolades that Judge Jackson has achieved, which accounts for her remarkable record.

Judge Jackson is a brilliant mind with the utmost character and integrity. Congratulations Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on your confirmation. I look forward to your continued service to our country.
