Issues: K-12 Education

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, U.S. Representatives Sam Graves (R-MO) and Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) introduced a House resolution recognizing the roles and contributions of teachers across the United States. The resolution gives thanks to the teachers of America and encourages students, parents, school administrators, and public officials to raise public awareness and show appreciation for the unquantifiable contributions of teachers in every community.

"This week is a great opportunity to say thank you to our teachers," said Rep. Graves. "They take on an incredibly tough job that often requires great sacrifice. Our teachers put in an incredible amount of time, effort, and even their own money into preparing future generations for success. I'm proud to take a moment to recognize America's teachers during this Teacher Appreciation Week and to simply say thanks for helping shape me and countless others into who we are today."

"Without fail, nearly every American can point to a teacher who has had a profound impact on their life. For me, that teacher was Mrs. Alma Holland, whose English, Literature, and Speech class ignited my passion for using language to bring people together," said Congressman Cleaver. "In the Fifth Congressional District of Missouri, there are countless teachers like Mrs. Holland, who give their heart and soul every day to the children they serve so that each child may reach their full potential and realize their highest dreams. As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and recognize the indelible mark that teachers have on each and every community across the country, I'm proud to introduce this bipartisan resolution with Congressman Graves thanking teachers for all their hard work, patience, and devotion to bettering the lives of their pupils, which benefits our nation as a whole. This week and every week, we are grateful for your service."
