Press Release

Date: April 13, 2022
Location: Kearney, Missouri

Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) joined the Kearney community, Kearney Mayor Randy Pogue, and MoDOT Commissioners Terry Ecker, Tom Waters, and Gregg Smith in breaking ground on the new I-35 and 19th Street Interchange in Kearney, Missouri yesterday. You can read more about the project here.

"This project has been a long time coming," said Graves. "I want to thank Mayor Pogue, many members of the Kearney community, landowners along the intersection, our MoDOT Commissioners, and MODOT Director McKenna for all their tireless work and cooperation on this project. It's something I've been working on for more than a decade and it's great to see this project finally moving forward."

Congressman Graves worked with the late Chairman Don Young to secure $1.2 million to commission a study to improve the intersection in the 2005 highway bill--the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). SAFETEA-LU also included $4.8 million for the expansion of Highway 92 from I-35 to Nations Road in Kearney.
