Biden Plans to End COVID Rules at the Border, While Still Imposing Restrictions and Mandates on U.S. Citizens

Today, the White House announced that on May 23rd it will end border restrictions prompted by the COVID pandemic two years ago. However, the White House did not announce an end to the national public health emergency, the forced masking of toddlers in Head Start, the TSA mask mandate on transportation, the vaccine mandate on truck drivers, the vaccine mandate on health care workers, or the testing requirement for Americans traveling back to the United States.

"President Biden is ending COVID rules for people who break the law and illegally cross the border, while at the same time forcing hardworking Americans and their children to follow COVID restrictions and mandates," said Congressman John Moolenaar. "Biden's decision today will lead to further chaos and directly benefit the drug cartels who smuggle people and fentanyl across the border. It will put our law enforcement at risk and increase the potential for American families to lose a loved one to a drug overdose. Finally, we know that people from around the world go to the southern border to enter the United States. After today's announcement, many groups who wish to harm our country are likely looking to travel to Mexico so they can illegally enter the United States next month."

"President Biden should vigorously enforce the Remain in Mexico policy, secure the border and uphold the rule of law," added Moolenaar.
