Rep. Vargas Votes to Deliver Nearly $40 Billion in Aid to Ukraine

Today, Congressmember Vargas voted to deliver $39.8 billion for critically needed resources as Ukraine continues to fight against brutal Russian forces. The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act is robust funding package to support the Ukrainian people and defend global democracy.

"I proudly voted to send additional military, economic, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine," said Rep. Vargas. "President Biden sent Congress an urgent request to deliver critical resources to Ukraine and we answered the call, providing a monumental $39.8 billion funding package. Putin's cruel invasion of Ukraine is unfounded, and we must continue to support Ukrainians at home and abroad. By providing these additional funds, the United States is sending a clear message: we stand with the courageous Ukrainian people."

Ukraine faces dire security, economic and humanitarian needs. The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act will deliver a wide range of resources to assist the Ukrainian people, including:

$6 billion to deliver weapons and security assistance to the Ukrainian military
$3.9 billion to bolster U.S. military operations in Europe
$8.7 billion to deliver economic aid and fund government services across Ukraine
$5 billion to provide food assistance in Ukraine and around the world
$900 million to support families fleeing from Ukraine
The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act will provide further military, economic, and humanitarian aid, adding to the more than $1.4 billion in aid provided to Ukraine since 2021. The full legislative text can be found here.
