Kuster Visits Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge in Nashua, Discusses Funding She Secured for Project with Mayor Jim Donchess

Statement

Date: April 20, 2022
Issues: Infrastructure

Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) visited the Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge in Nashua with Mayor Jim Donchess and saw the progress of their new construction project. Kuster secured $300,000 in the 2022 government funding package to create an ADA-accessible ramp off of the northerly side of the historic Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge to make this old piece of infrastructure accessible to all and bring it into compliance with current standards.

"It is essential that our pedestrian infrastructure is accessible to all Granite Staters, regardless of physical ability," said Rep. Kuster. "I was proud to secure these federal resources for the City of Nashua to help construct a new ramp and ensure the Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge is ADA compliant. This project will help ensure Nashua remains a wonderful place for everyone to live -- I will continue working with local leaders to support our communities and towns."

"I was so glad to join Congresswoman Kuster in Nashua today to celebrate the community project funding she secured for the Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge," said Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess. "These federal resources will bring the Cotton Mill Transfer Bridge into ADA compliance and directly serve the citizens and visitors of Nashua. Obtaining these funds will also greatly alleviate the burden on our Nashua taxpayers. This project would not have been possible without the support of Congresswoman Kuster, and we are proud to work with her to continue improving the City of Nashua for all."

Under the Community Project Funding Request process for the 117th Congress, which was included in the bipartisan omnibus package, Rep. Annie Kuster secured resources for 10 Community Projects in the Second District.
