Today, U.S. Congresswoman and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement on President Joe Biden's historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court:

"I've been in close discussion with the Biden Administration throughout the nomination process, and I fully support the President's nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, a distinguished jurist who has some of the highest qualifications of any nominee in recent memory," said Beatty. "She has my full faith and support ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing, which must proceed without delay."

Beatty continued, "From her work on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, to the eight years she spent as a federal trial court judge, to her early days as a public defender, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is poised to be the most historic and impactful Supreme Court Justice of the 21st century. Judge Jackson also brings with her the lifetime of learning and perspective of a Black woman, something our nation's highest court has never seen, making the bench look more like the makeup of our nation.
