Walberg Statement on Biden's States of the Union Address

Statement

Date: March 1, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) released the following statement after President Biden's State of the Union Address:

"Tonight, President Biden painted a picture of his presidency that is totally divorced from the real world. In reality, Michigan families are struggling because of the President's harmful policies.

"Inflation is at a 40-year high and paychecks don't stretch as far as they used to. The cost of gas, groceries, and other daily necessities keeps getting more expensive, yet the President presses forward on more unchecked inflationary spending. The Biden Administration's restriction on American energy threw our nation's energy independence out the window and made us more reliant on foreign adversaries like Russia.

"From the start, President Biden has mismanaged the pandemic, relied on draconian mandates that infringe on individual liberty, and stood in the way of a return to normalcy. He's ignored the crime spike in major cities, created a record-setting surge at the southern border, and oversaw a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. By every measure, the past year has been marked by one self-inflicted crisis after another.

"The state of our union is headed in the wrong direction, and it is time for President Biden to change course from his divisive, far-left policies that are hurting the American people."
