Reed Backs Biden's Highly-Qualified Fed Nominees

Today, after completing one-on-one meetings with President Biden's Federal Reserve Nominees Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa Cook, and Philip Jefferson, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a senior member of the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement:

"Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa Cook, and Philip Jefferson are extremely impressive, highly-qualified nominees. I am confident they will help lead a strong, independent Fed forward at a critical moment.

"Each of them brings serious expertise and a strong commitment to promoting broad economic opportunity and sustainable job growth. These nominees will help the Fed carry out responsible, forward-looking actions and policies to boost our economy, maintain low unemployment, control inflation, and preserve financial stability.

"The simple fact is that Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa Cook, and Philip Jefferson are all experts and leaders in their fields. Each of them brings a wealth of expertise and together they will bring a range of economic, regulatory, academic, and life experience to the Federal Reserve."

The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will hold hearings on Raskin, Cook, and Jefferson's nominations on Thursday.
