Sen. Ossoff's Push to Accelerate Chattahoochee RiverLands Projects Passes Congress

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff secured bipartisan support for the development of new trails and recreation areas along the Chattahoochee River.

, Sen. Ossoff secured $2.5 million to support phase two of Chattahoochee RiverLands greenway trail project to better connect communities along the river and the Metro Atlanta region.

The funding passed the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House.

"It's vital that Georgia families are able to enjoy this precious natural resource and get out with their families into nature. This will expand access to trails and recreation areas along the Chattahoochee River for families in metro Atlanta," Sen. Ossoff said.

The funding will support phase two of the project, which will include:

One additional mile of greenway trail between Nickajack Creek and Mableton Parkway
A bike/pedestrian bridge over Nickajack Creek
A second bike/pedestrian bridge over an unnamed gully just south of Nickajack Creek
A regional trailhead just south of Mableton Parkway
A greenway trail through or around the privately held "Maxim Crane" site
A community-scale trailhead on the north side of Veterans Memorial Highway
This also comes as Sen. Ossoff is working to pass his historic Chattahoochee River Act, which will help improve water quality, protect essential public works, and restore ecosystems along the river -- which are all vital to Georgia's drinking water supply, agricultural industry, power generation, and more.
