U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff secured bipartisan support to upgrade MARTA's fleet of buses.

Sen. Ossoff secured $3.85 million to help MARTA purchase six new electric buses to replace older diesel buses.

The funding passed the U.S. Senate and U.S. House.

This will help MARTA expand service while cutting back on air pollution.

"I've heard consistently from constituents in metro Atlanta that upgraded buses that are safer and use the newest technology is a priority," Sen. Ossoff said. "We have to reduce the air pollution that's dangerous for children's health, and I will continue to champion these upgrades for MARTA and other transit authorities and upgrade our overall transportation infrastructure."

"The future of MARTA's bus fleet is electric, which will help combat climate change and reduce public health impacts from air pollution, especially in vulnerable populations. MARTA thanks Sen. Ossoff for his leadership in requesting and securing $3.8 million to support MARTA's second purchase of electric buses," said Collie Greenwood, MARTA Interim GM/CEO.

Combined, the six buses being replaced operate for approximately 332,708 miles and consume 94,900 gallons of diesel fuel each year.
