Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC), Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI), and over 100 House members sent a letter to President Biden urging the Administration to support making fentanyl-related substances Schedule 1 classification permanent.

Rep. Budd has also sponsored legislation to permanently reclassify fentanyl as a Schedule 1 substance on August 3, 2021.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Deadly drugs like fentanyl have affected thousands of people, damaged families, and devastated communities across the country. Permanently classifying fentanyl as a Schedule I substance will give federal and state governments more options to fight the spread of this lethal drug. Congress can and must act to save lives. I'd like to thank Rep. Steil for leading this letter and calling out the Biden administration for their dangerous open border policies."
