Press Release

Date: Jan. 13, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) released the following statement after voting no on H.R. 5746, the NASA Enhanced Use Leasing Extension Act of 2021, which Democrats have used as a shell to pass their legislation to federalize elections.

"Democrats are trying to rewrite the rules of our democracy because that's the only way for them to ram through their socialist agenda," said Mullin. "At the eleventh hour, Speaker Pelosi used an unrelated NASA bill to bypass the rules of the Senate in an attempt to pass this legislation. This bill is a federal takeover that jeopardizes every American's right to free and fair elections. This vote has nothing to do with election reform and everything to do with Democrats' desperation to hold on to power."

Provisions in this bill include:

· Disregard for state voter ID laws

· Nationalization of elections

· Public funding of campaigns

· Appointment of the U.S. Attorney General as the "Elections Czar"

· Restrictions on State efforts to keep their voter registration lists clean and accurate
