Statement

Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46) released the following statement following an important hearing to examine the key issues affecting port operations nationwide and highlight recommendations to ensure efficient, secure trade and travel.

Rep. Lou Correa said, "Last October, I visited the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to examine the bottleneck at the ports. I've spoken at length to POLA Executive Director Gene Seroka on the impact that my constituents felt from the supply chain crisis. I'm glad that Director Sorokas was present at this important hearing to explain the steps that the Port of LA has taken since then to address the bottleneck at the port, and on improved conditions resulting from new policies implemented since my visit and our conversations. I'm also glad that Director Serokas confirmed that the Port of Los Angeles' private and public partnerships are working to ensure that secured goods are arriving at our ports.

My constituents are among the first to be affected by the operations at Southern California ports, and I will continue to push for accountability and work with my colleagues in Congress to address the supply chain crisis."
