Rep. Wild Announces $1.1 B in New Funding for Roads and Bridges Headed to Pennsylvania, First Round of Highway Funding Under Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Today, Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07) announced that Pennsylvania will receive $1,173,227,199 in new federal funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to create good-paying jobs for the Lehigh Valley, while improving roads and bridges across the Commonwealth. This is the first round of funding under the five years of federal investment in Pennsylvania's highways authorized by this new law.

"I was proud to fight for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is already beginning to put Pennsylvanians to work at rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges," said Rep. Wild. "If you've ever driven through the Greater Lehigh Valley, you would know that it's beyond time for robust infrastructure investments in our community. With this funding, we'll cut commute times, reduce emissions, and help our manufacturers get products to market and keep travelers safe on the roads."

The historic and bipartisan infrastructure bill, signed into law by President Biden on November 15th, secured new federal funding for highway and bridge repair for communities across the nation. The funds, administered by the Federal-aid Highway Program, can be used for the construction, reconstruction, or improvement.

The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Pennsylvania a C- grade on its Infrastructure Report Card, reflecting the many infrastructure deficiencies that require immediate attention. With this funding -- and more to come -- the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will create good-paying union jobs strengthening the crumbling roads, bridges, and more.

"Passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure law and securing federal funding was the first step. Now, it's time start rebuilding the infrastructure our community deserves. I look forward to seeing how these historic investments will make an impact on the lives of all Americans, and I will continue to fight to secure more federal dollars for PA-07."
