U.S. Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked enforcement of the vaccine mandate for private businesses and upheld the mandate for health care workers:

"Montana business owners and employees across our state made clear to me that this vaccine mandate was unworkable. I support the Court's decision and do not believe the federal government should be telling private businesses how to operate when it comes to vaccines. With that said, I strongly urge every eligible Montanan to join me in getting vaccinated as soon as possible so we can end this pandemic."

Last month, Tester broke from President Biden and his party and voted in favor of a Congressional Review Act resolution opposing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rule mandating coronavirus vaccinations for private businesses with more than 100 employees, which was blocked by today's Supreme Court ruling.

Senator Tester continues to support the vaccination mandate for healthcare workers, which the Supreme Court upheld today.
