Congressman Good Statement on House Vote to Increase Debt Ceiling

Statement

Date: Dec. 14, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Monetary Policy

Today, the United States Senate and House of Representatives voted to increase the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion, giving the Democrats a blank check through at least February 2023. Congressman Good (VA-05) issued the following statement.

"Democrats proved again today that they intend to spend as much of your money as they can get their hands on. And when that's not enough, they will borrow from your kids and grandkids to the tune of over $90,000 for every man, woman, and child in America when we hit the debt ceiling again," said Congressman Good.

"Worse yet, the Democrats' spending spree has led to the highest inflation levels in 40 years, raising the cost of everything we need. Virginia's families, and Americans across the United States, are paying the price, as we are experiencing the most expensive holiday season in our lifetimes. And yet, Democrats continue to ram through massive government spending bills, blank check legislation, and social makeover policies. This isn't leadership, it is an irresponsible abuse of power."
