Issues: Monetary Policy

Rep Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement after voting no to increase the debt ceiling:

"Our country is already nearly $29 trillion in debt, and we cannot continue to increase it without a long-term plan to address our country's out of control spending. Additionally, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer clearly want to use this to ram through President Biden's "Build Back Broke' act that, according to the CBO, costs closer to $5 trillion when the budget gimmicks are removed. Using the CBO scores, the Democrat leadership is trying to push a total of $7 trillion in spending without a single GOP vote. Our country is facing a debt crisis and it is triggering out-of-control inflation that is hurting American families."
