Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) highlighted the importance of value-based arrangements for prescription drugs during an Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing today. These innovative payment models tie payment for high-cost drugs to patient outcomes which result in better care and lower consumer costs. Mullin also discussed the work of the Health Care Innovation Caucus which works to encourage innovative policy ideas to improve care quality and lower costs for consumers.

"I co-chair the Innovation Caucus and we're always looking for ways to incentivize the medical industry to look at new directions, new ways," Mullin said.

"Anything we do in life, be it getting an attorney or calling a service company, the payment is based upon the outcome," Mullin continued. "If we can look at a new payment model and tie it to the patient's outcomes, that's something for us to look into."
