Date: Nov. 4, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. joined a group of his congressional colleagues in supporting a Congressional Review Act to nullify President Biden's newest vaccine mandate, released today, on private employees. Biden's mandate would force businesses with 100 or more employees to require employees get vaccinated or submit to weekly testing and wear a face covering in the workplace if they are not vaccinated. The rule, which will affect more than 80 million Americans, imposes $14,000 fines on employers for each violation.

"People should get vaccinated for COVID-19, but the government should not mandate it," said Dr. Cassidy. "This rule should be repealed. The federal government should not control peoples' lives."

Background
Cassidy has consistently pushed back against the Biden administration's vaccine mandates, saying the federal government should not dictate how Americans live their lives. He also expressed concerns over the impact of Biden's vaccine mandate on services veterans rely on from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
