BROWN ANNOUNCES $950,000 RAISE GRANT FOR CLEVELAND METROPARKS

Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $950,000 grant to the Cleveland Metropolitan Park District through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Transportation Discretionary Grants program. The funds for the project will go toward planning four priority trail projects for implementation by developing full construction documents for two projects and advancing the other two through the feasibility stage.

"Ohioans depend on access to parks and public lands for outdoor recreation, community events, and local jobs," said Brown. "These funds will support the Cleveland economy and protect our natural resources for future generations."

The four projects are the Slavic Village Downtown Connector North, Morgana Run Booth Ave. Extension, Iron Court Opportunity Corridor Connector, and Euclid Creek Greenway North. Brown wrote to the Department of Transportation in support of this project. In 2020, Brown helped secure $1 billion for the RAISE grant program in a spending package.

RAISE Discretionary Grant program, provides a unique opportunity for the DOT to invest in road, rail, transit and port projects that promise to achieve national objectives. Previously known as the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) and Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grants, Congress has dedicated nearly $8.9 billion for twelve rounds of National Infrastructure Investments to fund projects that have a significant local or regional impact.
