Congresswoman Manning Hosts Virtual Military Service Academy Day

On Saturday, September 25thCongresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) will host a virtual Military Service Academy Day via Zoom. The event will include representatives from five military academies: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Naval Academy. The Zoom event will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm and is open to current high school students and their families.

To attend a U.S. military academy a student must earn the nomination from their congressional representative and be selected for appointment by the military academy. Graduation after four years is valued at over $500,000 per student. Congresswoman Manning has assembled a distinguished panel of nine leaders from across the district to help select the Sixth District students who will be nominated this year.

"Earning an appointment to one of our nation's military academies is an honor," said Congresswoman Manning. "I'm proud to welcome students from across the Sixth District to participate in the virtual Military Service Academy Day to learn more about the nomination and appointment process."
