Issue Position

My own mother, pictured here, lifted our family out of poverty by enrolling in workforce training programs through her local carpenters union and later a local community college. Every Ohio family deserves that same opportunity to better their situation through education and job training.

Folks in this district have lost jobs through no fault of their own and need the training to gain new skills and career services necessary to fill in-demand jobs. Sector-based training programs should be focused on growing, high-demand sectors such as clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and caregiving -- helping workers of all kinds to find good-quality, sustainable jobs in an ever-changing economy. As we help the current workforce transition, we also must look to the next generation and make much-needed changes to education investments.
