Congresswoman Nikema Williams Votes to Pass Women's Health Protection Act

Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) voted to pass H.R. 3755, the Women's Health Protection Act, for which she served as an original co-sponsor. The legislation would enshrine into law abortion rights for everyone in the country.

"I proudly voted to pass the Women's Health Protection Act for everyone's abortion rights, but especially for everyone I met while working for Planned Parenthood who had to travel across state lines just to get the care they need," said Congresswoman Williams. "We are seeing an unprecedented assault on abortion in state legislatures and courtrooms across the country. Even today in my home state of Georgia, our despicable abortion ban is having its day in federal court. These relentless assaults have nothing to do with health or care. It's about scoring political points on the backs of the most marginalized communities--people who look like me.

"Today's vote protects the right to safe and legal abortion from the whims of states and the courts. I will keep working to secure passage of the Women's Health Protection Act because it is a moral imperative to ensure everyone, no matter their ZIP code, can make decisions about their health and families freely."
