Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has sponsored H.R. 5284, the Home Educators are Teachers Act. The bill would allow homeschool parents to be eligible for a $250 tax deduction for school supplies. The bill was originally introduced by Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC).

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Homeschool parents across North Carolina do incredible work taking their children's education into their own hands. They should be able to access the same financial benefits as other educators. I'd like to thank Rep. Norman for leading this important bill."
