Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the below statement following the terror attacks in Kabul.
"President Biden's failure as commander-in-chief is causing chaos on the world stage. We cannot stand by while the lives of American citizens, our Afghan allies, and our military are still at risk. For this reason, I support H.R. 5071 to prohibit President Biden from fully withdrawing our troops from Afghanistan until all Americans have been safely evacuated. If we allow the administration to set an arbitrary deadline, there will be little hope for the Americans left behind. We cannot stand by while the President of the United States creates an American hostage situation in Afghanistan."
