Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on President Biden's executive order requiring all federal employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19:

"Vaccines are proven to be effective, and the science shows that higher vaccination rates mean lower transmission rates. The President's action today requiring federal employees to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is grounded in science and will help ensure our employees can safely perform and operate in their roles. The Delta variant continues to pose a risk to the health and safety of Americans, specifically to those who have not been vaccinated. Over 150,000 cases are emerging each day while deaths from the Delta variant are at an alarming 1,500 per day. This executive order is part of a broader effort to control the Delta variant and I am hopeful that this action by the Biden Administration sets a positive example for other agencies, state governments, and private companies in our nation to follow."
