Governor Cooper Signs Two Bills into Law

Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed the following bills into law:

Senate Bill 35: Max 4-Yr Age Diff to Marry Under 18 Yrs.
Senate Bill 301: Expand Expunction Eligibility.
Governor Cooper made the following statement on SB 35:

"This legislation is an important step toward ending child marriage in North Carolina and instituting more protections for children. While it falls short of raising the age of marriage to 18, it will make our state a safer place for children."

Governor Cooper made the following statement on SB 301:

"This legislation makes it easier for some people who have served time for non-violent crimes to re-enter society and get a fresh start in life."
