Statement by Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) On Women's Equality Day

Statement

Today, August 26th, we celebrate Women's Equality Day and commemorate that pivotal day one hundred one years ago when women were finally granted the right to vote. We remember and honor all the women who struggled tirelessly for this right to fully participate in our democracy, including the countless women who struggled for this right but were never themselves able to fully realize it. We must rededicate ourselves to their struggle, the struggle for women's equality. Although we have come a long way, much work remains. It must be our task to do what we can to ensure that our nation's women are treated equally.
