House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Passes 8 Bills for Veterans

Today, the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs held a Full Committee Markup and passed eight bills. This legislation will expand mental healthcare resources for Native veterans, support student veterans, improve the transition from servicemember to civilian, promote economic opportunities, and study racial disparities in VA benefits--all in line with Chairman Takano's Priorities. "Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our Committee has continually come together to pass legislation for our nation's veterans. Today, we passed eight more bills that will take critical steps to increase access to mental healthcare for Native veterans, support student veterans, promote economic opportunities, and examine racial disparities in VA benefits to ensure they can be accessed equitably," said Chairman Takano. "We also passed my legislation that will provide a health safety net for servicemembers during the transition process by automatically enrolling those eligible in VA healthcare. I thank every Member for their work on these bills and for their tireless efforts to ensure VA serves all veterans- regardless of gender, sexuality, race, or gender identity."
