Rep. Hill: "Extending The Eviction Moratorium Just Keeps Kicking The Can Down The Road"

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. French Hill (AR-02), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance on the Financial Services Committee, today issued the following statement after President Biden called on Congress to extend the eviction moratorium.

"Extending the eviction moratorium just keeps kicking the can down the road and doesn't solve any of the backlog rental problems facing renters in Arkansas and across the country. Instead, the money Congress has already authorized through the American Rescue Plan and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020 needs to get in the hands of renters. I raised these points with Secretary Fudge last week during our hearing and will continue to advocate on behalf of these individuals."

Rep. Hill is a co-sponsor of H.R. 3913, the Renter Protection Act, introduced by Financial Service Committee Republicans, to fix the Biden Administration's mismanagement of the Emergency Rental Assistance programs, get money out the door quickly, and keep Americans in their homes.
