Rep. Delgado Visits Local Child Care Centers, Highlights Upcoming Child Tax Credit Payments

Press Release

Date: July 9, 2021

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited child care centers in New Paltz and Kingston to highlight the Child Tax Credit and our care economy. Starting July 15th, 38,900 households in New York's 19th Congressional District are eligible to receive monthly payments of the Child Tax Credit of up to $300 per month per child.

38,900 households, covering 86% of all children in NY-19 are eligible to get up to $300 per month per child July-December and even more after filing their taxes next year.

Nearly all eligible families should get their monthly payments automatically beginning July 15th with no further action required.

Families who did not file a tax return for 2019 or 2020 and who did not use the IRS Non-filers tool last year to sign up for the Economic Impact Payments, should go online and use the IRS Child Tax Credit Non-filer Sign-up Tool to sign up today.

"Monthly payments of the Child Tax Credit will help set up America's children for success and put more money in the pockets of parents," said Rep. Delgado. "From child care costs to buying back-to-school supplies, this funding is essential for upstate families. Child Tax Credit payments will help folks get back on their feet, but we must do more to ensure every family, no matter their zip code or income, has access to affordable and quality child care."

"Congressman Delgado is someone who truly understands the daily challenges faced by working families, especially families working in NYS agriculture. His visit to the ABCD center in New Paltz today was a boost for ABCD staff -- essential childcare workers who are caring for the children of essential farm workers. Watching the Congressman reading to and laughing with the children in ABCD classrooms made the day brighter for all of us! We thank him for his generous spirit and heartfelt dedication," said Susan M. Dingee, ABCD Director of Development.
