Sens. Cramer, Ernst, Colleagues Write Letter Opposing Biden Administration's Effort to Give Taxpayer Dollars to Abortion Providers

Date: May 23, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined a letter led by Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) to Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Xavier Becerra urging the Biden Administration to withdraw its proposed rule on the Title X family planning program, which would eliminate the Trump Administration's 2019 Protect Life Rule and direct tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

"Abortion is not family planning; it is family destruction," the senators wrote. "The Proposed Rule defies the law and would siphon tens of millions of taxpayer dollars in Title X funding towards Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, to the detriment of American taxpayers, the consciences of health care providers, and the lives of unborn children."

Senators Cramer and Ernst are joined on the letter by Senators Steve Daines (R-MT), James Lankford (R-OK), Roger Marshal (R-KS), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Mike Crapo (R-ID), John Hoeven (R-ND), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Deb Fischer (R-NE) Roy Blunt (R-MO) Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Ben Sasse (R-NE), John Cornyn (R-TX), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rick Scott (R-FL), Josh Hawley (R-MO), John Thune (R-SD), Tom Cotton (R-AR), James Risch (R-ID), Todd Young (R-IN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Jim Inhofe (R-IA).
