ICYMI: Rep. Rosendale Stands for American Energy Independence

Press Release

Date: May 7, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

On Tuesday, the House Committee on Natural Resources completed a markup hearing on several bills that would be detrimental to America's energy independence. These bills would erase hundreds of good-paying American jobs, negatively affect conservation programs, and would give the federal government more control over public lands.
"The Democrats' push to pass these pieces of legislation codifies an "America Last' agenda," said Representative Rosendale. "These bills would gut jobs in rural and economically distressed counties, and burden companies with pointless regulations. I will continue to advocate for Montana's well-being, and I will fight back against the Democrats' economy-crushing agenda."

One of the bills, H.R. 1517, would raise fees and various penalties related to oil and gas leases on federal lands and would permanently close down companies leaving hundreds of Americans unemployed. Representative Rosendale proposed three amendments to this bill that the Democrats rejected. If accepted, Representative Rosendale's amendments would have repealed the raises in fees and penalties, preserve critical funding for conservation efforts, and would have helped retain American jobs during this time of economic recovery.

Since its inception, the Biden administration has eliminated thousands of American jobs and has attempted to expand the government's control over our lives. Montanans enjoy their freedoms and do not want to rely on the federal government, or foreign governments, for jobs and resources.
