Today, Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) introduced a bill to improve public awareness of vehicle safety practices. The Safe Driving Vehicles Act directs the Secretary of Transportation to develop an education campaign to improve public awareness on the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning from keyless ignition systems, impaired or distracted driving, and leaving children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

"It is important to ensure the public has all the best available information to make vehicle safety decisions," said Congressman Armstrong. "My bill will ensure the public has access to timely information to help protect themselves and their families."

The bill directs the Secretary to develop a program no later than one year after its enactment and make the resources publicly available.
